Hardcore/Rock Mix Needing Advice

Hey Slutz,
So this is my first attempt at recording a hardcore band. When I asked for a reference cd they gave me Underoath's "Chasing safety" cd & a Devil Wears Prada cd.

Any constructive criticism would be great.

The mix i feel is being pushed too hard, but the band still feels like it needs to be louder..
Tough situation, do I forget what I feel is right & just hop onto the band wagon (of todays modern rock) & make this track clip a little?

Another concern is the 808 hits in the song. They for sure what them to hit hard, but with the music being pushed loud how do we fit a big 808 ontop of it & still keep the music from distorting? I didn't have distorting problem with the 808's in the pre-mastering mixes, before the mastering session, so maybe I need to lower the volume of the 808's in the mix so it's not so overpowering in the mastering session.

Thanks for your time.

ps. don't pay attention to the audio after the song ended, the band wanted to put something funny after this song.

oh dear..
it feels like there's no low end in the mix at all, because everything is super bright to the point of being almost painfully harsh. That kick drum is really unnatural, I think it sticks out way too much.

If there was more low end in the rest of the mix, then when when the really deep drum machine hit comes in, it will fit better, as long as room is made for it while its there. Everything sounds a bit squashed together, things need to have their own place - you can't make every element louder than the others..

i would add some higher freqs to the kick, its absent without a tunred up sub, turn up the bass too, make the guitars less bright to they are as somebody has already pointed out painfully bright.

and around 3:29 onwards theres way too much of the sub stuff going on it just distorts the LF drivers

but whatever u do leave that vocal as it is near perfectly done, just watch the lows its the problem i seem to see with all of these demos on the forum that below 100hz people just screw up their mixes.
