New rock tune, avoiding squashing effect

Hi, I would like to receive any kind of opinion about this little mix that I made.

I am almost happy with the mix, because you can hear the instruments, but the song sounds so weak and I dont know if I am doing the things right.

Any comment will be appreciated.

The song sounds weak because the band is very weak. This is the main reason I don't sing in spanish. Very few spanish singers can get away with rock music. Maybe 1 in my list. Soda Stereo. It's down hill from there. I think you are doing a great job, it sounds pretty good.. I would raise the vocals a bit though. Or even better mute him. kidding. There are other way more experienced people here that can help you out, but I am 99% sure the problem here is energy from arrangements and song.

I agree, spanish language is difficult to sing rock (except if you are Heroes del Silencio), thats because we want to record a new version in english, however I think the song is enough powerful in the score, maybe the metronome was annoying the musician performance.

With the mix I only am afraid with the hit-hat, maybe it is so loud, but the most I dislike is the final sound, probably the next time would be better with the help from people more experienced.

I agree, this song is incredibly catchy. I think this song will do wonders for this band.

As to the recording, I would personally choose to raise the vocals. Just a little. If not, I would lower the drums. That is my decision about the balance of this song. It is very hi-fi friendly, with a lot of mid to hi-frequency content. It makes it sound "expensive". I think that is cool. I always wondered how people achieve that sound. Another band that I listen to has that hi-fi friendly sound and they are called Dogfight. They're located in the East Coast of the U.S.

Even if the recording would have been done on a small, all in one workstation/recorder, this song would still rock. The song really shines. I hope you don't mind, but I downloaded it and have kept it in my MP3 folder.

I wish the band the best of luck!

sound = good, band = bad. ok, don't take it too hard..
Snare is nice, vox also - U could rise the vox a bit, as is been said before. Also, I notice the hihat a bit louder on some parts. it has, indeed , a nice sheen to it (fine, may say).
