Thread Starter | Classical meets jazz... comments? Hi, I came up with this tune and recorded it over the past several days. It's kind of a blend of classical and jazz. I'm wondering what you guys think about the arangement, harmonies, and drums, as well as the mix, sounds, etc. Thanks in advance.  |

 | Cool! I wonder: real drum(mer)? Drums sound a bit stiff, esp. in the breaks - each snare hit sounds identical to the last, so I assume it's either canned drums, or edited/quantized...  I think having a bit looser hat, and dynamic snare/kit could substantially give the tune some "vibe", but only if it's live drums - all bets are off for canned - IME, I could never program/edit emotion into sequenced tracks  Cool ideas, tho: I dig disonnance/rhythmic stuff with acoustic instruments, so bass clarinet, and flute might soften out the "stark" nature of the glock as well. good luck,  |

Thread Starter | Hey, thanks for the comments... For this tune, I had some drum samples (kick, snare, high hat, and crash) that I copied and pasted in. It's not quite as nice as having a real drummer, but I decided to add it as I was writing the song. The high hat tip is nice, as well as the reverb tip. I'll give an update when I get the rest of the overdubs done!! |
