Mix Advice Needed! Mellow Rock Track! :)

Hey all --

This is my first attempt engineering and mixing a non-hiphop/r&b track, so i'd like to know what you think, and any advice on the mix?

Much appreciated

The singer and the guitar singing/jamming together are beautiful.

Thanks for asking and this is my spontaneous reply when I listen to the song again.

I think the mix is pretty much good as it is. Here are some of my thoughts; maybe some room feel would be nice. I don't know what kind of sound you are after. You went dry and maybe that’s something you are after. I would love some air/room around the instrument. Some cool LFO, delay things happening to make the listener exited all the way through...

The drums are a bit stiff and the snare sounds the same on every hit. I would try some real percussions/bongos etc… To loosen the tightness you could try a tambourine or egg, shaker. I think it could spice up the groove.

Try to boost the highs on the vocals to get some nice sparkle and help the funky vocals cut through the mix.

The bass should come closer to the front together with the drums. I think the main thing is to get the groove happening. Work on the rhythm stuff.

The guitar solo sounds cool “LOFI”. Did you DI the electric (solo) guitar? I like it…If you are PC you should look up Ohm Force “Ohm boyz” plug-in… I use it all the time. Check out their website: http://www.ohmforce.com/ViewProduct.do?p=OhmBoyz

Hope this helps... I like the song as it is... Thanks for sharing this great tune.
