Need thoughts/ suggestions on Ppo/Rock mix

I did this ITB and was suggested to me by someone that it sounded dated?

Please give me some comments on how to make this sound better. Thanks in advance. You guys are much appreciated!

Anyone? Any comments good or bad would be appreciated. I usually just track/record but thought I'd try mixing this time around. I'd like to know if I can actually charge her for this or if I need to pass it on to a more experienced engineer.

Nice.

just some of my toughts:
-vocals a bit to upfront and to dark to my taste
- i would put the bassguitar more upfront
- less delay on the guitar and maybe aa bit more 4 kHz
- Maybe correct the timing of the guitar in the beginning
- Maybe some effect on the vocals somewhere

Missing some vibey feel
and try to do some things different...
one crazy sound can make all the difference

Kind regards

Harrie

Thanks a ton for your kind insights. I'll make some changes and possibly re-post. I too, thought the vocal was too loud, but the artist wanted it that way, I guess?

i would say the snare is a bit too loud and perhaps a bit weedy. for that nu-80s style of music i was expecting a something closer to a stadium rock reverby snare.
