RCA Direct outs... low levels to PT... who knows some good bump boxes?

The current setup I'm using involves a DIGI 002 with PT LE, and I'm running an older analog console w/ direct outs 1-16 running to my interface, adat converting for 9-16.

The console is a Panasonic Ramsa WR-T820B, and it has RCA direct outs. I'm not getting unpleasant results tracking with this console, although I am not receiving adequate levels to Tools.

This sort of thing really bothers me, as often times my meterage inside of Tools isn't very shy of half way, with faders at unity feeding my D.O.'s. I was pondering the idea of finding 20 channels (yes, odd number, but the # of channels this ramsa console has) of -10 to +4 conversion... but such a thing to my knowledge would only be a custom job.

I like the sound of my console and it serves its purpose well, but I think a problem of this nature forces me to consider scraping this model completely and finding an alternative console. I mean... I could get better levels using a mackie 24/8.... but that's really not any fun.

Any suggestions???? I mean... a bump box is one thing... but 20 channels?

The group outs and sends are all RCA as well.

Thanks,

Jules

Hi Jules,

That console has a switch on the buss cards to convert it from -10 to +4 level. You'll need to lift the master section to get to them...

Man.... Looks like I'll have to perform surgery on her. This is exciting though. I didn't think there would be a switch, since I've never seen a manual or the inside of her.

Wow. If this works out I'll let you know. Thanks!
