Thread Starter | Funk/Rock/Middleeastern influenced Alternative FULL ALBUM POSTED -MIX COMMENTS PLEASE I have created snippets instead of whole song, I know it limits the comments a little bit but I thought it will enable more people to listen to the whole album. I really really appreciate all comments, even harsh ones!..This is the first album I am engineering so it would help me a lot to learn from other people with different ideas and experiences. PS: Track 10 is intentionally missing (not mixed yet). |

| Everything sounds really good - you've avoided the first pitfall I was expecting, which is a ridiculous trebly bass sound that is on top of the whole mix (generally that happens for first-time engineers recording "funk"). Every thing sounds very soft and pleasant, which is probably what you're going for. I really like the guitar tone on track 1, but maybe the guitars there might be a tad loud. You've done a really great job with everything, stuff is mixed at the right volume, and it all sounds cohesive. You've got a very radio-friendly sound going here. |

Thread Starter | Thank you both, these are really positive comments. My main problem with this project was vocals, the vocalist was a really interesting person who wasn't willing to stand still while tracking, therefore there are some unwanted frequency anomalies due to his movement in the studio in the vocal track. It was really painful to try to compensate for them as they were variable all the time..lots of automation, but in my opinion the vocals are still not "there"... But I think I will have to live with that this time.. |
