How can i make this mix better?

Well this is a mix, where the vocalist is going to do a retake as he was sick during the recording, but other than that, do you have any suggestion how i could make this mix sound better? thanks

Spoken as basically an amateur, my opinion is that the music is 100% perfect. Spot on. The only thing I would change is compress the vocals a little more and bring them way to the front of the mix. In songs like this (it's a personal thing), I like the vocals to be a hair on top of the music, and these are buried pretty deep. It's a great song, and I'd buy it.

Have a great one!

thanks a lot. I think i agree, the vocal should stand out more. I'll probably automate them in a few places and put a limiter after the compression i already have going. thanks for the advice. Anyone else?

Good song

generally gd performance too....I love the ambience/sense of space in the overall recording...very live and natural, not in that amateurish/garage way.

vocals too soft (and thin), drums (esp. snare) too loud but nice drum tone overall (a tad dry maybe).

overall most of the instruments sound "soft" (unfocused). I would give them each a light touch of eq /HPF to make their critical frequencies more prominent and distinguish them more from the overlapping frequency bands, bass more ballsy, guitars more presence, etc.

Good job and have fun

The snare does peak a little loud, and being that i'm tracking it all through low end preamps and converters at 44.1 16 bit i feel that the sound has gotten slightly smeared in the process. Maybe i'll give the bass a harder compression that gives it a little more punch. The guitars could possibly use a little bump in the top end and I'll do what i said above about the vocals.

The vocals were definitely buried, try soloing everything but the kick, snare, and vocals. Get those three balanced and then bring everything else back in. Other than that, it's perfect.

By the way, who is this band and how do I go about hearing more of them? I really dig the style.
