drum overdub

Hey dudes.

This was recordede using the "overdub hihat and cymbal" tecnique.

What do you think...mix, production....

Please comment - it will be the band's (my band's) radio single.

Cheers, Lasso

your compression is technically very perfect, clean and no artifacts, plus a very rich sound, but especially in the chorus, dynamics are missing. the rhythm pattern is very flat there, I would prefer more dynamics in the lower mids. arrangement problem - it is mainly the guitars acting like vacuum cleaner. obeying "radio"? I would try to give the snare more depth and sustain. the highs are nice. (cymbals etc)

dynamics _between_ the different parts of the track are ok.

I think it sounds tight overall but I think the whole mix lacks depth and big-ness. I like the vocal production.

I like the production except the drums.
I like drums to sound like they are played in one room from one person . I don't care for one beat not being as strong as all the others but to hear drums sounding like from a sound module makes me always a little depressed.

Great song I hope it does well on radio.

Thanks for your replies.

I tend to agree about the chorus being somewhat flat, dynamics-wise - probably due to the dist. guitars being a little over compressed...hmmm...don't think I bother to remix though...it's gonna be squashed to hell on air anyways (thanks Orban...) h

This was kind of an experiment but we ended up digging the drum sound so much that we're gonna keep that in future productions.

roughly: Go ahead...remember, it takes a really cool drummer to pull it off. Give them something to pound on for the missing hi-hat, as this seems to be the hardest thing for the drummer to leave out.

And...it takes a fair bit of drum editing afterwards - so be patient

Cheers dudes
Lasso.
