Looking for some critiques and feedback! Rock/Alternative

Hey guys. There are 4 tracks on this page...

The one I'm most interested in getting feedback on is "Antigravity" . It's from a record I did about 3 years ago. It was my very first record I ever did on Protools (I had been recording with just about every other medium besides Protools for about 3 years prior.) ... I was 17 at the time..

Let me know what you think!

Also, there are 3 other songs on the page. "Simple" is from the same record ("00:03 To Go, by The Spencer Outfit") ... "No Sleep For Dreaming" is my band, (Ever We Fall), and "Track 2" is from a record I did in '06 for a band from LA called "A Fall Farewell"

A Few quick notes before anyone replies... All of those tracks are from records that were done in my living room.

I was Producer/Engineer/Mixer on all of the tracks except for No Sleep For Dreaming, I was co-producer/ast. engineer.

On Antigravity and Simple, there are NO drum samples... No Triggering, No beat detective... Just a great drummer.

Same with Track 2, except for some backing triggers during the choruses to give it a bigger back-bone.

I can see you....can you see me? phew we're not invisible after all

alright....antigravity, good drummer I agree, and nice arrangement. I like the backing vocal harmonies, certain parts sounds very "Queen" (rock opera-ish)

The overall tonal balance is ok I guess. I can hear the instruments are pretty decently tracked in general.

But what is really obvious is that everything seems to be MONO. It seems a lot of things are swimming in the centre of the mix, the lo-mids are very muddy, and seems to be further obscured by some reverb?.

A song like this needs impact. And that means hyped up transients. It also needs that "wrap around" stereo image to make the listener feel he has nowhere to run from the sonic onslaught

Things you might want to try:

- pan out dirt guitars part hard L and R. Start from there to create movement in the stereo field.

- kill all the reverb. Dryness=in your face=impact. Substitute lead vocals reverb (if any) with delay type effects, use a few different delays with different settings at once BUT add just a tiny little of each, to create the illusion of density/texture/ dimension/prominence to the lead vocals.

- The overall sound is also a tad too "clean" for this kind of music. Run some tracks through some distortion/saturation plugins, efx boxes etc, blend in with the corresponding clean tracks....add the mid-range (not lo mids though) "grit" , edginess and presence to carry through the attitude.

Good luck! (I'm a noob so you don't have to take me seriously )
