Lost and Found

I've been finishing up a "trilogy." Here's the first mix. Mind you, it is long because it's 3 songs (14:25) so if you don't feel like listening to the whole song, that's cool. Just let me know what your thoughts are on the overall production and where you left off so i can gauge where I'm losing listeners.
Thanks.

Hi Steve, I was keen to have a listen, followed the link, but I'm unclear about which songs in the player you want comments on...?

If you could listen to "Lost and Found," that would be great.

Ok Steve. Overall I thought the concept was very interesting. Lots of interest melodically and in terms of production.
Drums sound great. Would have liked to hear the bass a little more clearly, sounds a muddy on my NS10's. Could do with a little clarity in the low mid. Didn't like the extreme EQing on the guitars. Good to use it occasionally for interest but I found myself wanting to hear a much fuller guitar alot of the time. Less so towards the end of the track when things slow down. Love the harmony section at the end. Reminds a little of the Hole InThe Wall album by Electric Soft Parade. Which is a bloody classic
Nice work!
Cheers,
Jim

Oh BTW you lost me about 10 mins in - when you went into 'Sublime Humility' it was one concept to far. Should be a seperate song IMHO, good as it is!

Just listened to Dream It's Over' and it's really good except for the chorus line, which in terms of melody sounds like it's lifted from a Coldplay song, can't remember which one...It's just too close for me
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks Jim for taking the time to listen to the song and reviewing. I was wondering about what you meant about the extreme eq'ing on the guitars. Could you tell me which part of the trilogy you were referring to? Thanks.

Yeah no probs Steve. The repeating rhythm guitar line that 1st comes in around 1.30 ( panned mostly left). It's quite thin sounding, which is OK at this point.
When it comes back in at 3.15, there are some narrow band EQ tricks going on (which are cool and fine BTW), but then when it kicks off again at around 3.30 I wanted it to sound bigger, less nasal and really rock. I would suggest simply a couple of fresh overdrive (less distorted and wider band than before) tracks here ( playing that same rhythm guitar phrase). It would be consistent but give the listener something fresh to hear PLUS if you can make it sound more immediate, it will kick more - and that section NEEDS to kick more for the dynamic arc of what is a pretty epic track to remain interesting. Radiohead used the technique on The Bends as I recall and it works a treat.
HTH
