Indie Rock mix/master, greatly appreciate feedback!!!!

This is a local indie rock group (cerulean sky) I recorded a few months back. Overall I feel it sounds pretty good. I mainly work with metal bands (not by choice) and this was my first chance to work on something I actually enjoy. I'm just looking for any tips on where I could improve or what you think sounds good about the mix. Anyway I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!!!

I really like the song! It's like minus the bear, jr. ha.
The dude's voice sounds amazing.
I like the guitar sound as well.
Some criticisms,
I think the kick and snare level could be brought up
and given some more room in the mix. The cymbals and
ride were a bit too loud and maybe a bit too sibilant.
The high hat sixteenths could have a bit more stick in
them. For definition. And the bass is a little bit clacky.
These are just my suggestions. After listening on
laptop speakers. So take them with a grain of salt.
Nice work!

I listened on my rig (Firebox and adam a7s). To me, the guitars could come down or everything else could come up. The guitars seem to overshadow the vocals and drums. As a guitar player you'd think I'd really like that. I didn't hear a problem with the cymbals like root did but I really don't hear enough of them to know. The bass could be fatter/rounder I think. The actual recording sounds excellent.

great vibe!

I'm loving the vibe of this song!! That said, one major issue I'm having with it is hearing a lot of the timing being really off. Maybe I'm just wigging out because of the effect on the guitar, but the timing between the guitars and the drums feels off enough to really distract me.I hear rushed fills and sections that feel unhinged rather than just loose and dreamy, pulsing and floaty. Sounds like these guys might just be a little green. Lord, knows, I've done some nudging around in the mix to get things locked on. Not everyone is okay with that.
Other than that, I also agree largely with the issues mentioned in the previous posts. But there is a lot of beauty going on here too.
To finish off positively, I really feel the EMOTION in the performances and that counts for a lot. Reminds me a bit of The Secret Machines. If I were in your neck of the woods and was enjoying an adult beverage in your local club, I'd be happy to hear these guys come on...

p.s.

I was also, sadly, listening on computer monitors at work, which is why I declined any opinion on tones and mix, per se, just timing issues

Agreed, fix the bass tone and tighten up the playing and your the rest of the way there. I would also like to hear a more dynamic mix. The chorus doesn't have the energy I want.

But keep it up! thumbsup
