Fresh ears for pop/rock mix.

Any advice welcome and hugely appreciated for the attached mix - including the composition/playing/sound etc (vocals yet to be added).

I have some views on all these, but would really appreciate some outside advice.

Hey D.

Many thanks for the kind words and suggestions. I hadn't put this through any sort of 'mastering' chain to boost the dynamics, so it's really helpful to have some guidance on what works.

The material is from a band I play drums in. This track along with a few others were recorded by us some time ago. To be honest the tracking didn't go smoothly (poor mic placement/not enough time to experiment/actually record! etc. etc.) I could go on but now I'm just finding excuses!

I've been revisiting the tracks in view of compiling enough material for an album. I wanted to see if I could make these older recordings work a bit better or if they need re-recording completely (we've used my previous efforts for demo purposes/handing out to gigs etc.). Either way it's all a valuable learning curve!

One other specific question I had was whether a carefully chosen reverb on the master would take some of the raw'ness out (in a good way)?

Thanks again for taking the time to listen.

sounds way too close to La Grange by ZZ Top to consider it an "original"
tune.
There are timing issues with the guitars.
Best of luck,
TK
