Post Upcoming recordings

I am singer and rhythm guitarist of a german semi-pro Thrash Metal Band. We recorded our previous releases in my friends studio and will record the upcoming. The attached file is an outtake of our last MCD. I am currently writing and arranging stuff for the next release and as a co-producer I would like to ask the forum member for some advise in the engineering section.

I know the drums are a bit week. I plan to record the next production with a Yamaha Recording Custom, which I find is adequate for our general sound. What room design and material is ideal for a warm, defined, dynamic sound?

The guitar amps I use are ADA MP2 and MP1 with a Super City cabinet (4x12 Celestion Speakers of unknown kind) and a Peavey M-3000. What bass and amp (plus microhone) would fit in our sound best? We tried a lot but are not satisfied yet. We will record it on an Otari 2" 24 Track using a modified TAC Matchless.

I hope to get some useful hints. If you need more details feel free to ask.

Thanks for your time.

Guido
