Two songs, same Metal band, 2 years apart...

This is the same band,

This song was recorded and mixed 2 years ago and the record never got released...

Yun-Fat / He Wants A Bullet Between His Eyes

Now, they tracked 2 new songs to put as Bonus tracks on the record, this is one:

Yun-Fat / Sunda Bloody Sunday (yes, it is a cover)

Let me know what you think!

I wanted to make sure the new mixes sounded way different from the old ones

So I only listened to the old ones after I finished the new ones... duh

Let me know.

More info on the band at Yun-Fat @ MySpace

Yes, they do sound different. At first I was trying to figure out what was with the singer... then, I looked and saw Brazil! I assume these guys are Brazilian?
The guitars are tight, the picking as well. A lot of gating on them?

yes, we're all brazilian...

hummmm, not much gating on the guitar as far as I remember... just cleaning the noises on silent parts...
the guitar player is a picking freak thumbsup for sure.
the first recording was a Laney VH100 if I'm not mistaken.
the second one is a mix of Dual Recto, JCM 800 and Triaxis+JCM 800 power.

Sounds very different. Did you use samples in the newer one but not the first one?

The snare samples are very apparent in the new one. Don't know if you can tone that down at all to make it more "lifelike" and less "sampled hits" but that's what I would like to hear.

kick and snare sound "sampled" because that's what I was going for.
99% of the metal mixes today sound sampled... so I wanted the guys to "sound like everybody else" in those 2 particular songs (the new recorded ones), 'cause we already have 8 other songs that sounds organic on the drums...

Listening to the 1st track: I really like the music - very different from the standard metal assembly. Very cool drumming. Did the drummer play all the parts that cleanly, or were there a lot of corrections and mapping? Great playing by everybody!

It kind of makes me think of Mr. Bungle in terms of the stylistic mash-ups and comical jumps into video game land. I'm very impressed! Plus we get to hear some well played Brazilian forms!

The only thing I don't like is cookie monster. I never liked that kind of vocal from the 1st time I heard it. Can't wait til it dies! If everybody could sing like Dave Mustaine, it'd work for me.
