Thread Starter | really poppy rock song work in progress SoundClick MP3: s34nsm411 - Band page with free MP3 music downloads on SoundClick "sunset shootout (work in progress)" just finished tracking this today, still working a lot of stuff in the mix and theres some synth stuff missing in the obvious gaps. no automation either so i know the soloed vocals sound extremely wet |

I like it, I like it a lot! I would almost be tempted to just bring up the bass and drums a tad.........cool song. (It could just be my speakers though) Blue Bongo |

The Auto-Tuning is well over the top - you'd give High School Musical a run for their money.

Cool song!! I don't like this particular Steven Slate 'crack' snare too much, though. Maybe blend it with a little more beef from another Steven Slate snare (I like to blend Snare 5 & Snare 8)? Mind sharing how you treated the vocals?

Nice jam.......Risky with the vocals "naked" for so long......But that's what music is all about... Good work Steve Altonian http://www.soundclick.com/stevealtonian |

Sounding pretty good already. I'd agree with the comment about bringing up the drums a little, perhaps a little more 'crack' on that snare, but thats just my taste. I'll have a listen in the studio later and post some more stuff if I hear it. Nice work!! |

im pretty sure the blank vocal spot is gonna have some sort of electronic thing going on behind it. and yeah, now that i listen again that snare sample sucks, i found one i like more its the snare11AZ2 from the new slate samples. ill post the final version after we finish all the tracking this weekend with a new sample to Andrew07, just curious which Z sets do you use when blending them? |

I agree with the posts about the snare, sounds a little out of place. I might also bring up the bass but it's all quite poppy so it might be what you're going for.

ditto about the vocal question. I use a 4050 too, and I can't seem to get results like that . It'd be really cool if you could take a screenshot of the plug-ins and their settings if you got time. nice job dude!

the rvox and autotune are inserted into each vocal track, then all the tracks are bussed to one group channel with the other plugins shown

I'm not huge on the guitar tone. The Autotune is KILLING me. Cut back on it. I'm noticing some of the vocals dragging a bit, maybe edit everything a little more on time? The snare really sticks out in a bad way for me. The clap in the middle is super loud. The production is there. VERY modern. I'm just not huge on the sounds. A bit too much of that artificial "sparkle" going on. This whole thing just sounds too "fake" for me. Were the guitars direct or something? Also, what bitrate did you upload these at? I think there are some big artifacts throwing me off. You have a super modern sound going on. Not half bad.

yeah im definitely going for a fake super processed sound here, even the drums are fake . the guitars are through a 5150 with the preamp out plugged into my interface and impulses applied afterward for the cabinet emulation. any part of the guitar sound in particular that sounds bad? maybe i can mangle with some eq. in hindsight i might have used a little too much gain. and what about the snare? too much "body" maybe? i cant seem to find a sample to settle on. and yeah the autotune is a little over the top but thats how they wanted it. i exported it at 320kbps but soundclick downsamples your mp3s to 128kbps i believe edit: updated the songs with a different eq on the guitar and some slight eq adjustments to the whole mix
