Thread Starter | Just finished tracking a django Reinhardt project
I'm very happy with it so far.... guitar, bass, fiddle, clarinet. Very fun to listen to. But I've never mixed a jazz album before, can someone spare me some advice. I've always done rock music. I listen to jazz sometimes, but am not quite sure on what i'm going for here. Thanks

Ok here a post a swing valse, i was a bit nervous about posting this because people here intimidate me, oh well. I tracked everything through a AT3035 straight into a 002r (using the 002 pres). It is the first thing I really done on the 002, so go easy. oh and I appreciate all your help and feedback.

Sounds pretty good. I'd bring the bass down about 4 dB, the clarinet and rhythm guitars down about 2 dB and boost the violin about 3 dB and I think you'd have it nailed. Take a little top end off the rhythm guitars and some off the lead guitar; not much - just a little. Good job - very impressive.

Harvey, I made the changes you suggested. I feel like the violin is a little too much, but you made the rhythm guitars sink right in as well as the bass. I can't thank you enough for your advice. My fear is that I'll always be off the mark by a "tad". When I was backing off the rhythm guitars I could hear it right away, I had them too hot, but I don't think I would have backed off of them if you did not say anything. Anyway here is a post of 2nd mix

I think you're pretty much there. Take a little 5KHz off the violin and you're done. Sounds great to me. I think Django would be proud of you. |

Nice arrangement and performance. Kudos for tracking it so that it comes across so well. The EQ'd version sounds very good.

Perfect. You should feel blessed working with musicians who can play instruments. Gustav |
