Listen to "song of david". The other tracks were done by someone else. Lemme know what you think.

sounds nice and balanced to me - vox sound as good as i can tell from an MP3.

you should be proud - especially since Bassie and Drummie aren't exactly into the Jamaican sound, that makes it more difficult.

Yes I! Ha! Thanks for the response man. To me, the mix might be a little dark. Since I recorded that band, I've addressed some problems with the mix room and things have improoved.

A lot of our music and mixes are indeed dark, it's part of the feel, vibe, energy & style. I hear a lot of different tempos throughout the song, was that the intention? bless thumbsup

Nope. I didn't really wear the producer hat while working with these guys. They're coming back in next month and I'll be producing a full length for them, so I'll be able to crack the tempo whip at them.

What's r u recording to, ProTools or similar? You can set a click with the disired tempo so the Drummer can have it as a guide. Bless thumbsup

We're running Logic. This was a quick, one day demo thing. He'll have a click next time for sure.

Sounds not bad.a bit dark but the gentleman that said it's part of the sound is right.
the drift is just ridiculous.i lived in the Caribbean, and have heard a load of reggae bands and if there's one thing a true reggae band is about, is staying in the pocket. some of the tempo drifts were so bad it was like it was by design and i'm sure that's why tony asked.

Steppin Out sounded like it had something wierd going on with the bass, as if it was complete mish-mass of bass frequencies all over the place, I couldnt distinguish any notes...

Other than that, as far as Song of David is concerned, I find the mix very coherent. It could be a bit more stereo, and you could boost the high (10k+) freqs on the high hat to define the "dancing" a bit more. But it's all a question of taste. Your mix is coherent.

I didn't record steppin out or any of the other tunes. Just Song of David. The eb and flow of the tempo is deliberate on their part, but it's weird.
