Smile New Song Idea (Rough Demo) 'Gone'

here is a simple sketch of a new song i wrote today.
it needs a lot of work and i know the mix is terrible and perhaps boring at times.

ALSO: there is HEAVY automatic-mode Auto-Tune on this track, so if you hate unnatural sounding vocals and can't stand the sound of AT you might not want to listen..!!

i decided to post it anyway even though it is in the first stages of realization to get feedback on the song and structure.

again, this song is playing it a bit safe but that seems to come easier to me.....

well, here it is:

'Gone' ©2007 BKM

any comments appreciated!!

cheers.

Actually

I dig it... The drums seem out of sort.... Actually too little but since this is a drum machine Id turn it up. The autotune function is interesting, but in the vein of Imogen Heap and Cher, and others who have used this function, I dig it... But in some places a good idea might be to let the other vocals bleed through, kind of a mixture. I like the ambiance of this piece though... Just bring up the drums or lower the vocals one of the two...
Great start though!!!!

thanks for the feedback!!
i am working on this track and will repost it when it is finished....

i think i will keep the Auto-Tune but instead of leaving it in automatic mode i will tweak it in graphical (i am just learning to do that).

the drums are too soft and vocals too loud, i agree.

thanks again for listening!!

cheers.

Great

I like it. For my ears the tempo could be a little faster... Also I wouldn't go so heavy on the autotune -- your voice is very good and could come through a little more natural on the track.

You're a very good songwriter, JD. And I respect your will to experiment.

Structure wise, it's something like A-B-A-B-C-A-B - if I remember correctly.

Why not have the A-parts do the AT-thing? And keep the rest "natural"? As a contrast?

All right, you've guessed it: Respect for experiment and all that, but too much AT for my taste.

Great song. Why do you do these covers all the time?

I understand you want to record. I mean, it's obvious... You do great stuff, man. And have a passion about it. Just keep it coming.

You should be signed. Anything in the pipeline?
