First of all, arangement wise, I think the intro is a bit too long. It's nothing special, and you need to grab your audience's attention. Biggest mix flaw: lack of bass. Lack of bass in the bass gtr and kick. There's no punch in your gut. Something about the snare I'm not likeing either. Not enough crack perhaps. Or too much snare rattle, or maybe too much reverb or delay. The vocals are alright, depending on what you were going for. Personally I find them thin, but they might be just right if the mids were taken up by the guitars which are also thin and/or more meaty drums and bass. The mix isn't horible, but make it punch. |

Thanks for the response. The low end is hard for me, it seems there's a fine line between "punchy" and "boomy" when I try to dial it in right. I took your suggestions and adjusted a few things, here's round two. Any other help is appreciated!!

Yeah, I think this is pretty good. I find the bass tone a bit dry when it does come through, but I would still bring the bass up a couple of dB. Even when I've done that, though, the guitars somehow seem a bit thin for my tastes. I think I just find the mix a bit tinny. I like it more after rolling off the highs a little from about 5 kHz or something... but that's something I seem to do a lot, probably because I'm not a fan of glassy highs on electric guitar, etc. Anyway, to me, the result sounds quite a bit warmer and suddenly the vocals and guitars seem a little more full-bodied and authoritative. Definitely a pretty good mix, whatever you do with it now. |

Ok, I think I'm done with this one. I took your suggestions, added more lows in the kick and bass and took some top off the OH and guitars. Let me know what you think. Thanks! |
