Actually that sounds good..

Quite good reverb you got there. Guitar sound is a little bit too tender. I´m missing that good flat acoustic sound. Maybe you´ve cutted too much away with the eq, don´t know but sounds really sensible..

Keep up the good work..

Cheers

True...

not actually weird, but it sounds little bit hollow.

I´ve recorded very much of acoustic guitar and i used to go with pair of RodeNTK or Sennheiser 614 and sound was always somekinda unnatural and hollow. I tried different Guitars like Taylor and Martin, but nothin´change.
First time when i was recording acoustics with large capsule ribbon mics it started to sound like i wanted to. Try some ribbon mics on acoustic.

Cheapest decent ones you can buy 115€ / per piece

But your mix sounds really good..

Gave 'Old Crows' a listen....nice song...good vocals. Really!
The guitar needs to be......bigger. Not sure what you have for gear but maybe doubling it with a touch of delay.
Also....get that noise out at the beginning. The guitar will sound a bit better if it just starts clean.

Unclenny,

Focus on your sonwriting, performing and build a following and walk in the steps of those before you. Your a talented songwriter with an honest clear voice and thoutful lyrics. What you've recorded is fine for shopping a publishing deal or selling at local shows. Don't spend too much time trying to become a recording engineer because it will only ba a distraction from what's really important.

YOUR MUSIC

Find a nearby studio with good engineers and good equipment and when you feel your song is really ready, let a pro record you. You won't regret it and you'll be 100% more focused on your performance. The great thing is if your well rehearsed it won't cost you that much.

My .02

Nice tunes, good luck.

P.S. There's tons of great studios in N.J.

Hey Bdiggy...

Thanks for the kind words.
You know....I'll bet there are a bunch of folks out there in Gearslutzland like me (many lurking) who are taking advantage of home recording to become better musicians.
For an old guitar slinger like me even an amateur recording is like a mirror....I have become a better player and songwriter here in the digital age of music.
That said...and for all of you reading who aspire to greatness in this industry....listen to Bdiggy and the other professionals on this most excellent forum. Play to your strong points.
Place your precious songs in the capable hands of a Producer/Audio Engineer/Mastering Engineer.
These guys are good.

Apologies to patshep for the ruthless highjacking of this thread. I gave 'Old Crows' another listen...it kind of stuck with me overnight. I like it.

I really liked your songs and style. As others have said the AC guitar needs some work in the EQ (more high mid presense) and better mic placement (get a little closer with more low roll-off on eq). Also a bit more compression would even out the dynamics and help your voice blend with it. Keep it up though... sounds good overall. Again...good songs.

Good luck!thumbsup

thanks for the help, i haven't had the geffel m930 very long, what i've been doing is setting a futon behind the mic, trying to place it as well as possible and going live, then i put the pickup from the guitar into a di and pan them hard left and right.. i thought the hollow sound was from the room? i need to get some eq's and reverbs and such, i only have the plug ins that came with dp...it's funny because right as i was considering selling most of my stuff and going into studios, i finally got pretty good results ... go figure!
i would love to try a ribbon mic, i think it would be great for the sound i'm going for...after we finish some of these originals, we want to go to a studio with an upright bass and record a 'cover' demo
