Well done, nice vibe. The vocal sounds great, IMO. Signal chain, mic etc? Gear? DAW? Plugs?

Such a sad, scary song. Beautifully done--I'm listening for the 4th or 5th time--lost count. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_K...opular_culture |

A few of the vocal lines sag just a little big in pitch. Not saying you should auto-tune the hell outta it, just noticed it. I rather do like it. Sounds pretty good. It does sound like a soft-synth piano. It's could just be the playing, and it's just not very dynamic/roomy/forceful. I wish that the piano kicked it up a bit on the verses. this is one of my favorite songs of 2006. Terribly sad to be an american/brit these days with the way these governments are making a mockery of all of us.

thanks very much for that. i think most of the credit (of course) should go to Thom Yorke for writing such a great song. Quote:
yep, you are right. i did the vocal take live in one try and so it's not a pitch-perfect performance. some of my timing (vocally) is off too. i really would NOT want to use any auto-tune on this type of song. it's better if i can just get the pitch right, even if it takes trying a bit harder Quote:
it is a soft-synth piano (Synthogy Ivory). i think i had the dynamic range control set to a too-restricted setting, thus the lack of dynamics on the piano part. i agree the performance could be better. thanks for the comments and critiques; i can tell you were really listening because you mentioned a lot of things i can improve on that i can also hear myself. i may do another version where i redo the piano and make it more interesting/dynamic and also work on the pitch being as perfect as possible (for me). cheers and thanks guys!! ~j.d. | |||
