Mastering House?

Hey Guys,
This is my first post here on gearslutz... I have been recording and writing music for about 10 years. My mixes are good, but I feel my understanding for the mastering process may lack up against more qualified people. I am about to release my album but feel that it may be more beneficial to send to someone that knows more about the whole process... Any recommendations? I am in the singer songwriter/Folk/Rock genre. I read through a bunch of threads and didn't find quite what I was looking for so I apologize in advance if this subject has already been covered. I understand that like anything, "You get what you pay for", but am on a tight budget. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike,
here are many great MEs,
even some of the top 10 Jedi Knights,
I mean the serious professionals, and also some less budget studios,
it depends on what you mean by 'tight budget'
is 300$ per album 'tight' ? or expensive...
anyway with today's budget for master, way to go are online mastering studios
and because of that, anyone who does not have bookings for weeks ahead,
would gladly provide you a free sample of mastered song,
you can choose yourself what you like most, how was the communication and support form ME

good luck with it!

Thanks man! I have tried to master my own material but know sometimes its better to have fresh ears for the job. I have looked online at some, but I guess I was looking for references. 300 is not a bad deal at all. Thanks for your help and quick reply.

I'm going to shy away from a "recommendation" since I would only recommend myself or the people on this site I get along with...
That said, check out the "Where to" sub-page...
There are plenty of people who have found the perfect ME by starting a "mix-off" (er... pre-master off doesn't sound right)
I would suggest you do the same...Post a link to a wav file, and ask for an estimate.
And choose whoever best fits in your budget and gives you your favourite results.

**but if you have already picked Red Mastering please disregard my post

He use to be called something else but here is his current website Online Mastering Studio, Audio Mastering, budget CD Mastering it is in his signature block in his post.

By the way there are a lot of really great mastering engineers on this forum that also do online mastering. Maybe spend some time looking????for alternatives.

Thanks Thomas!
I used to have a name TRESPERROS here (it was a name of music project I was a creator and participant) it's not actual anymore, plus my studio has a name, so I changed it,
as I said before, GS is a place for many great ME and some budget ones, so - yes keep looking

I am pretty high on Trevor Sadler at Mastermind. If you are indie and can be patient I would guess he could come up with a way you could work with him.

do a search and check his credits.
