RECOMMEND me a Mastering Engineer?

Mods: The reason I'm not posting this in the Mastering Forum is because that is mainly occupied by Mastering Engineers. At this point, I'm not looking to get bombarded with pm's from ME's looking to be hired. I'm looking for strictly RECOMMENDATIONS from recording/mix guys.

I'm looking to all of you recording/mixing engineers (like myself) to recommend to me a quality ME for local unsigned artists in the range of $40-60 / song or less. I know plenty of places/people that do quality work over that price...but I'm looking for great engineers in that price range that won't break the bank for some of these local or unsigned artists I work with. I'm getting tired of doing quick "masters" for some of these guys...I'm not a mastering engineer.

Who have you used in this range? I'm mostly doing rock/pop/Christian/country stuff.

Thanks!

Online Mastering Service from Abbey Road Studios - Home

(haven't used it myself, but there was a shootout of mastering services in SOS or FM and Abbey Road's sound was head and shoulders above the rest in a blind test)

I had a feeling this would come up pretty quick. Definitely nice sounding from what I've heard, but that is like $130-140 / song or something right? Great for projects that can afford it, but I'm specifically looking for recommendations in the $40-60 range per song.

Thanks for chiming in none the less!

I'm a big fan of John Golden at Golden Mastering

Also, Carl Saff at Saff Mastering is top notch

Both should be in your budget

Bob Ludwig? :p

There's a place called sound bites dog in LA, great to work with. There's also a mastering house in Ojai, CA that's great. Their name escapes me

Done, look at post three. I personally feel he's the absolute best bang for the buck. Very professional and knows his equipment well.

Adam Ayan at Gateway does a great job, but I have no idea about his rates. And, of course, there's his employer Mr. Ludwig.

Again, no idea about rates, but I personally know he works with big time superstar clients and no-name indie starving artists alike. So, there's that.

Brian Lucey at Welcome to Magic Garden Mastering

He did my latest record, which I guarantee you haven't heard, and Black Keys "Brother's" which I hope you have.

Did excellent work and gave me a lot of valuable feedback on my mixes.

the most wonderfully obese record i've ever heard. the mastering engineer is the usual suspect to thank for that.

my favorite lately is Ted Jensen, but his rates are probably up there.

Affordable professional mastering and mixing

As a mixing guy I recommend www.mastering7.com
They are in the range above-mentioned and do a lot of CCM music, too.

I have used Golden Mastering over the years and they are great. Just got some work done with Waltz Mastering and the experience has been outstanding.

Andy at Tubemastering.com did a song for me recently that I was very happy with. That might've been around $75 but well worth it.

Erm, I'm sort of recommending myself here, but I'm allowed to because it's pay what you want. Don't like it, don't pay.
