Thread Starter | Mastering engineer in NYC for a very eclectic acoustic/electronic/female vocal album
Hi all. I'm a female singer and engineer in NYC, and I've made a 10-song album that I produced, recorded, and mixed myself in my apartment (and hopefully it's not as bad as that probably sounds). I do not want to master it myself. However, I don't know who to have master it. The album spans a few genres, from pure electronica with vocals to some piano-based acoustic pieces, also with vocals. My voice is on the delicate, pretty side as opposed to being big and soulful. I tried looking through recent albums I like the sound of and seeing where they were mastered, but I can't think of any albums that came out recently that sound similar to mine in the first place. The ones that come closest in either eclecticness or delicate voice-ness were mastered in another country or state. What I do know is I don't want these songs to be smashed as loud as possible, which is why I'm afraid to just go anywhere. I also want to be able to attend the session. I don't want the indie discount treatment, but I can't afford to spend thousands on this so I'm guessing any big mastering place that has indie pricing is out. I don't care where in the city it is as long as I can get there without a car. Thanks. |
