Wanted: SH*T HOT post-prod engineer needed pronto!!!

.. And I figure this is the perfect place to score the talent :-)

Basically our band has just finished laying down the tracks for the second album.
These were recorded in a nice studio, with a decent engineer, and altogether we have 9 tracks in fairly good shape. This is really good old-style progressive rock.

Long story short I had a guy lined up to do Post production (Cleaning and polishing) to get that extra little something, but at the last minute he decided he wanted a cut of the distribution - But since he is a noname that just wasn't on the cards. It's now on my head to find another to do this job.

If you like prog, know how to mix analogue synths, soaring guitars, and 5 octave vocals and still manage to keep a contemporary sound picture, I am all ears. Please contact me at Mike@krypton.no
References/music links would be awesome!!

I guess our budget for the job is around 2000 US dollars. I'm hoping theres a grammy award winning engineer out there who likes PROG so much he'll do this one on the cheap. If so we can talk percentages :-)
Otherwise I figure that's an OK price for turning our "pretty good" tracks into "great tracks" (right? correct me if I'm off base.. we don't want to be cheap).

Our (small independent) record company is taking care of mastering (finalising really... I'm hoping the work I'm offering here will be awesome enough to be the final take)., so really we just need someone that really can polish the tracks, prior to a stereo bus push.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Mike,
Oslo.

Hi Berolzheimer,

Yes it's a mixing job:

We have pretty good mixes already.. 2 members in our band are studio engineers themselves, but we lack the polishing skills needed to take this cow home.

Gear used was Manley/Avalon/Nuendo etc

The mixes are straightforward: D/B/G/synth/Vox/BVox/BVox. Sonically it shouldn't be too demanding.
What we lack is the ability to get a contemporary rock feel (from a Classic Prog Rock source)... which is what I think we need..I'm hoping someone with lots of wisdom can make the mix a bit shinier.

I would also be interested in ballpark figures if $2K doesn't cut it.

It's hard to find talent in Norway for this kind of thing. I hope this sort of "help wanted" ad is not inappropriate for GS btw.

Just checked my mail. 6 responses yay. I will answer all tonight :-)

Cheers,

Mike.

I might be late on this, but I sent out an e-mail. I've been mixing expereimental jazz records like mad lately. Prog rock would be a nice change of events.

Hi there,

Thanks a million for the responses: About 15 in all. I don't think we need anymore :-)

I've tried to respond to everybody - but I'm also in and out of studio and my inbox is a dump. My sincerest apologies if I've skipped anybody.

I forwarded all correspondance to the guy in charge of the project, and he went through it , looking for a suitable candidate. Long story short: Plenty of talent to pick from.

We are currently chatting to at least one guy from this board. So thats a big hooray for GS.

Thanks again. I guess we'll post some stuff from the finished album to let you know how it turns out :-)
