reggae mastering engineer recommendations

Looking for someone to master a full length reggae album for around $1500.

Music in the vein of Slightly Stoopid and Sublime.

Yes, I got a quote from big bass brian. The cd is 75 minutes, so with Brian it would end up costing al least $4000.

I was hoping to do it for, at most, half that amount.

Looking for someone with experience in reggae. Ideally based in LA, because I am hoping to attend.

Anyone recommend anyone good??

Thanks!!

I mastered the original version of 40 Ounces To Freedom, and the single version of Badfish they still play on KROQ. Also some Dub Club for Tom Chasteen, as well as Shaggy. And I could hit your budget.

Hmm...

Considering I just won a contest where Slightly Stoopid handpicked my Dub version from a couple hundred entries for first place....

I could be just your guy. We'll have to see if I can do what you want, standards youre dealing with/looking for, but Id be very glad to get a test track out to you and we can see if if all fits - Ill Pm you my email addy

EDIT: *Served a rather significant dose of humble pie in the light of the guy who did the original mastering for 40 Oz. To Freedom, RasCricket digresses....

However, though I have to regularly perform Garden Grove due to the 3 reggae bands Im in and tour with......Ive never listened much to 40 Oz to Freedom - ever. Im a reggae musician. We never saw Sublime as a reggae band. So...LOL, maximum respect to shmasterer, no doubt - I suppose the difference here is if the OP is looking for a more "Californian" type of reggae or if his material is more of a "Roots" genre that would require a different approach. Sigh, I be he wants "Californian". Damn, I just digressed...again.

Thanks for the PMS. Yes, it's a more California type reggae. Some of the songs are more roots, some are a little rock, and everything in between.

Want to make sure the low end is right because bass is very important in this music.

I'll get a few samples done and make a decision, but we are still tracking some vocals so it's not a huge rush.
