Thread Starter | Mastering facility in NYC w/ archiving experience?
Any recomendations for a mastering studio in New York City (preferably Manhattan) that has experience with archiving old analog tapes? I'm looking to digitize some 1/4" analog master tapes from ~1984, and these tapes have not been played -- or, frankly, even looked at -- since then. I have no idea what condition they're in. They have not been stored with the greatest of care, mea culpa. So first & foremost I'm looking for someone who has experience salvaging old tapes, just in case some triage is required. (Actually, I guess first & foremost I'm looking for someone with a 1/4" analog 2-track deck...) Not looking to do any heavy-handed "mastering" per se, a straight transfer to both hi-rez files and Red Book CD would be fine...though if someone had some fancy EQs'n'shit I wouldn't object to hearing what else could be done. Mostly looking just to save an old project. I don't need a Bob Ludwig or a Brian Gardner, but would prefer someone who's a legit professional, rather than someone moonlighting in their bedroom with some Bomb Factory plug-ins. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks. |

I've heard good things about these guys: Ultimate Multitrack Analog to Digital Transfers - Sonicraft A2DX Lab who are across the river.
