Thread Starter | Is it possible to get a free master from a student?
I need to have a demo mastered, but it's nothing major. It's just to present to an A&R for another artist. The demo will be re-recorded by their producer. I just want my mix to be spiced up and to correct some bad frequencies. Again, no need for a super-pro job. I was wondering if there are any student engineers willing to do this track? I figure a student would be willing to get some practice in? The only thing is that I have to send this track out by Monday. Please PM me for details. |

If you already know there are bad frequencies why don't you fix them before sending it out for mastering?

Thread Starter | It's not there are "bad" frequencies. I guess I used the wrong wording there. I just mean: can someone spice up my mix. I've spent a good week mixing it, but I'm not good at applying compression, limiting and EQ to an overall mix.

Use yousendit.com to make a downloadable stereo version and add it to your thread. Then call it a mastering competition rather than a favor. Who knows, you might end up with a few good ones to choose from. (people are competitive) Might even have a crack at it myself if there's the potential for feedback. |

That's reasonable, the comparison idea. For the sake of science at least. If 'where to' is going to turn into 'where can I get it mastered for little or nothing' (and it has, really) then at least let there be some science to it. |
