I've several projects coming up that I need mastered and they'll be my first time working with pro mastering. I'm trying to talk to various people and get a realistic lie of the land. First I need to work out WHO I need to talk to. On this occasion Google hasn't been my friend.

There are many options. Dominic has posted just above.

If it fits your budget I would also try Many and Guy @ Electric

And don't forget Macc who is also very often posting around here

Many of the "traditional" mastering houses have closed down (Townhouse, Heathmans, Alchemy...). What is left at the top end can be very pricey (Metropolis, Abbey Road, The Exchange). Many of the top engineers have gone freelance, so do research mastering engineers rather than facilities.

Lots of options in London for sure.

What sort of music is it? I am sure there's a few people I could point you to - not least Freq Farm on here, who co-owns and runs the Chocolate Factory... They're near/on Brick Lane I believe. I think they do all sorts there.

As well as all the people mentioned If you're doing dance/dnb/electronic/dubstep etc then I'd point you to Beau at Masterpiece (formerly of Heathmans). Top chap and killer engineer. Also Transition do superb work from the stuff I have heard - Jason posts as Fat Larry on here I think. they're renowned for their dubstep but I imagine they cut anything and everything. Someone called Wolf mastering posts on here, he's in Brixton [EDIT - noticed he posted directly above!].... loads of choices.

And if you're really skint then you can give me a buzz Thanks for the mention Riccardo, though I should really change my location (London boy now living and operating out of Kent).

Good luck!

Thanks Riccardo. I've contacted everyone mentioned on this thread. I've come across 2 Velvet Room mastering websites, both have different versions of what looks like the same pic on the front, one with a .co.uk and with a .eu domain but both in English. Are they both yours?

Thanks to everyone else who replied too.

Gotcha. I didn't want to be alarmist but thought I'd mention after the Turtle Rock affair with their pics.

+1 for Mandy and Guy at Electric. They were both at The Exchange previous to setting up their own shop and will treat you and your music well.

Cheers,
Thor
