Thread Starter | Need Mastering Eng. My mixes
Hi fellow slutz. I have a couple of bands in the studio finishing mixing stage. Like most of the bands I get I am asked about a good mastering engineer. Ive been working with some local guys and I am glad with the results. Not bad. But they just dont understand some of the music styles that I deliver them. they are simply not used to something out of the mainstream pop rock. They are used to a portuguese music style... The thing is, Im looking for someone who understands best this music style that seems to be what my studio tracks and mixes the most: Anglo-saxonic and Germanic/nordic Indie Pop Rock. The album Im just finishing mixing is from a band in the line of dEUS, SonicYouth, Eels, sometimes a bit of Sigur Ros, sometimes a bit more pop like fountains of youth, tahiti80, phoenix...if you get the picture... Anybody interested? Anybody recomend me someone else? it would have to be done until the 15th next month. Thanks

We turned them down. The mix "Elephants" had serious sonic problems and in our experience, there are usually others tracks that are worse. So, even though we made them a sample we decided "No thanks". I would like to know how the ME fared with this project knowing that the guy who mixed went away leaving it on his own with the band...

just to update some info here... i was the mixer engineer for this project. Since the band had no idea of how to master the cd, I posted here asking for one. Then I stayed with the band as much as I could but got to a point when I had to leave the country. When i arrived back I gave them my opinion and help them choose the best mastered songs. Its was not an easy job mixing this band. It was recorded somewere else, in a very big warehouse with no acoustic treatment. Drums were specially hard to mix. in the end I think it came out pretty good. The songs are very good and that makes it for all I guess. Tom, I really enjoyed your work. Thanks. I would love to know what you thought about it, what could I have done better and what kind of gear you used. It sounds so warm... To all other that gave your best I thank you also. I must say that it was not easy to choose one ME. All were very good, I was impressed. Thanks Ed |
