| Gear nut | Best NASHVILLE based Mastering Engineer(s) for BLUES Hello, I am producing a blues record and we are looking for a great mastering engineer based in Nashville. Experience in Blues is going to be a very important factor in deciding who to use. Can you guys refer me to some mastering engineers in Nashville who know the blues? Thanks

| Gear maniac | MasterMix does alot of the country work in Nashville, as well as a ton of the other genres. I'm sure they have experience with blues also. You might give them a shot. They are probably the biggest in town (I don't know about best, but they are the biggest for a reason). Have you checked in Memphis for a mastering engineer? Memphis is a blues town, so surely there is somebody there with some good experience. Who does BB King's stuff? |

| Gear nut | Believe it or not I suggested that to the artist but the artist would like to do it in Nashville and it is my duty as a producer to facilitate the artist's vision

| Gear Head | what he said i love nashville but in the "music row" scene there is an embarrassing lack of respect for the blues as a genre that pisses me off. it is a lack of respect for any decent roots music really. i mean look what's being passed off as country. i saw a country "songwriter" at a bar as i was having a drink with friends before the levon helm show and the guy goes "i'm going to see robin thicke and beyonce. who's levon helm?" that being said there are quite a few folks tracking and mixing good rootsy stuff. these people are the exception to the rule. i'm sure there must be mastering guys who are exceptional in taste as well. i never thought of mastering as particularly genre specific, but i see your point about experience within the blues idiom. independant mastering was great to me though on a bluesy roots rock project. |

| Lives for gear | Uh, Bob Ohlsson is in Nashville. Does being the mastering guy for almost all the great Motown hits count as understanding blues?

| Motown legend | A huge percentage of country is done in Nashville however country has always been a tiny percentage of the music actually being recorded and mastered in Nashville. |
