Los Angeles Film Trailer Music Mastering

I'm going to be needing a mastering engineer in a few months to master about 35-40 pieces of music and I'm seeking some one who fits the following description:

1. Los Angeles-based, preferably... however, if the mastering engineer is familiar with the film trailer genre, I'm happy to work with anybody, anywhere. I'd just prefer to be able to talk in person or on the phone about what I'm seeking.
2. Mainly works with theatrical-release film trailer music: orchestral, rock and orchestral hybrids (orchestral mixed with rock or hip hop or electronica grooves/instrumentation)
3. Has worked with production music libraries before or understands what that entails
4. Has good taste: I'm not looking for a "loudness expert" (though this stuff needs to be a bit more "pumped" than a film score), but more somebody who has great taste and knows where to touch the music lightly and where to hit it hard. (i.e. a good ME!)

5. Lastly, somebody who will not break the bank fee-wise, but has the skills and aspirations to get there someday soon...

A lot to ask? Perhaps...but essentially I'm looking for an ME who understands and likes film trailer music and would like to work with a client who will hire them for at least 3 big projects every year.

Any recommendations highly appreciated!

Best,

Dan

You should really get in touch with John Rodd, who is a full time engineer in LA doing almost exclusively mixing and mastering for Film, TV and high end video games.

He was the staff engineer at the 20th century Fox scoring stage for about 7 years. He is on GS every once in a while.

+1 John is a great guy.

Another option is Wolfgang Aichholz. All around great engineer and does a lot of film work. Not an ME, per se, but could certainly help you out. Great ears...

If you have trouble with budget, send me a PM. I've worked on a lot film scores and work a lot with one of the busier trailer composers. I'm not a true ME, but I've mixed and mastered a bunch of trailers and film score style music library cues....

Id love to take on the job!
I don't have experience with video, but I can work on a tight budget and have plenty experience with studio album mastering, and I learn fast.
As long as its not surround sound then I'd be happy to do a free sample master for you.

PM me if your interested.

Just call Dave Collins (213.448.0616) and be done with it. He's done tons of movie soundtracks and has superb ears/taste.

Talk to Michael Murphy and Capitol Studios and Mastering. There is a lot of film scoring, mixing and mastering done there. 323-871-5004. He is good at setting rates to fit the project.

Yes I work for Capitol, not trying to hide anything.

Thank you guys! As frequently happens with large projects, the production time is fairly lengthy, so I've got a good 1-2 months before I'm really ready to hire a mastering engineer, but I will be calling all of these ME's then...

Many thanks, again, for the contacts and advice.

Best,

Dan
