Mastering for $500

Hey guys,

I am finishing up the mixes on my debut solo cd which consists of 12 songs. I am wanting to send it off for mastering once I am done and have $500 to spend on mastering. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on any good mastering engineers who can do a 12 song album for $500? I know it's not a great budget, but I figured I should be able to get a decent sound for that.

I was looking at discmakers "The SoundLab" and they can do it for my price. Has anyone had any experience with getting their cd mastered with discmakers (The SoundLab) and how did it turn out?

It will be interesting to see what the "competition" has to say about them, but I never had a client who used Discmaker make any complaint. Whether they are any good at fixing problems, I can pretty much say they don't seem to mess thing up. And their engineers have been profiled in a number of recording publications.

I've sent quite a few clients to Doug Van Sloun.

Focus Mastering

I'd highly recommend it.

I suspect they're likely quoting him "extra low budget prices" that they wouldn't want posted in public. You can't have ALL your clients booking $500 LP sessions now, can you?
