| Good Mastering Houses in NYC Hello all, Would anybody be familiar with what the good mastering studios in New York City are? I have a project that I have to get mastered soon and I just moved to the big city, so I am not very acquainted with its studios and don't even know where to start. I've been looking at Sony Music Studios Mastering and they seem to have a pretty good service. Any other studios (mid to high budget) that I should be aware of? Cheers! |

| Both Chrises at Sterling - Athens and Gehringer. Chris Athens can be found on the board here too. And also at Sterling, of course the legendary Greg Calbi. Sony has some good guys too, but don't necessarily look to the "top" guy(s). Check out Mark Wilder. He posts 'round here sometimes. I'll agree about Alan at arf too. And also look up Scott Hull mastering. And there are certainly more. There's no shortage of mastering in NYC. It's not all great mastering however, so do some due diligence before shelling out the cash. Also, some guys tend to be known for certain styles, but most experienced pros will handle just about any style just fine. Still, there are a few guys who intentionally specialize, so if you have a specific genre, you can consider that too. |
