Video editors of Gearslutz - would love to get a feel for what software people are using... what are you running as your NLE? I realise some people may use more than one, which one do you use most often?

Bought MC with the FCP crossgrade, but haven't found time to start using it... FCP still handles everything I want.

I voted FCP 7 only because I still use it a bit more than Media Composer.

FCP 7 and AVID are my fav's

cheers

I thought I'd be first to choose 'other'. I dabble with Premier Pro, but when I need to something quick and simple, I just edit in the Fairlight. The Pyxis software allows import/export of any format, real time frame rate conversion and EDL support. I've been using it to put together my demo reels and lately edits of spots that are heavily interview driven with the content based on what I can generate from testimonials. I then output a hi-rez file for final graphics. I can't do compositing or layers, but I can do 3D work to 2K. It's a little weird to cut picture on an audio editor, but I guess it's no different than doing audio post on an NLE...

Honestly I really dig fcpx for quick corporate videos and tv promos and such.

Long format work. Media composer for sure.

I use premiere too but i just don't like its ergonomics. I love their media encoder plugin though.

Media Composer. I just like the sheer power of it plus the compatibility with pro tools is unmatched,Go satellite!!! Is still use FCP7 when I need to do something quick but when I have more time I just bring everything into media composer and tweak to my hearts content.

We use FCPX, FCP7 and Vegas. They all work GREAT. Vegas is the editor I learned on and still use it if I have a lot of audio work to do since it has some very nice multitrack features. The video editor I work with likes FCP7 and he has been using FCPX for lots of small jobs and when we have to do multicam syncing.

The one piece of software I have never been able to find is one that does good translations between MOV and AVI or AVI and MOV. It would certainly come in handy at times.
