Drum Fills

I found this technique quite by accident. If the drummer is searching for some interesting fills or even new patterns, set him down on a keyboard-it's time to drum. Have him play (henpeck)an appropriate kick AND snare pattern at the same time, to the song. He should pause where he will want a fill, roll, whatever, on the next take. Play him the kick-snare recording and have him now try to play tom fills where he "thought" they were in his head during the first take(again on the keyboard). You end up with some crap and some useful patterns.
