Organization- power adapters (which wall wart was it?)

The other handy tip here on wall warts reminded me of this thing I do to my warts

If you are like me, you have LOTS of gear that comes with a wall wart (power adapter). Then one day you move a piece of gear or store it or move your studio, whatever. Next thing ya know, you've got 7 different power adapters with similar power ratings and somewhat similar tips on the ends but you can't remember which one belongs to which piece of gear. Also, a lot of these pieces of equipment have OEM adapters and the name of the manufacturer on the adapter does not match the name of the maker of the piece of gear to which it connects (i.e. your Superdelaytron fx unit has an adapter made by Imakiku).

The FIRST thing I do when i get a piece of gear with a wall wart is to get out my blessed Dyno labeler and put a label on the side of the wall wart with the name of the piece of gear to which it connects (a label that says "Superdelaytron" goes on my Imakiku adapter). This has been an absolute saving grace and time saver when digging through 25 adapters everytime I reconfigure a live rig or move things in the studio.

Of course if you forget to label, you can check power ratings and whatnot on the wall warts to figure which one goes with what but don't forget to check polarity of the wall warts tip connector and hope that it fits tightly enough to stay secure. Don't forget to label and this road will be less traveled :-)

Ok, bye.
