Mix Riding Approach..mike tarsia

When I was assiting the engineers and producers alway rode 1 instrument thru entire song.like a guitar part and then moved to the next instrument again all the way thru the tune..i picked up the habit and then one day a producer came in and said NO..this is how I want to do it..

Take each section..intro..verse ..chorus etc. and after the basics are roughed in mix each section as a seperate piece..ride ALL the stuff in that section before moving on to the next section..this creates a song within the song..for me it brought a lot more life to my mixes and a lot less going back and re riding after adding parts
