Vocal recording - Figure of 8 special effect tip

I've heard numerous times that recording engineers keep their tricks hidden, but this site seems to contradict that. I would like to get the ball rolling on some interesting techniques.

I've had hit and miss success with an interesting vocal technique in which you place a figure8 LDC or ribbon at the midway point between the vocalist and a large window, with about 2' on either side of the mic, 4' total. double the track and phase reverse the clone as in ms and play with panning. The resulting effect is that shallow glassy sort of thing found in early Death Cab recordings.
