Elec Gtr and Bass - Multi-Mic Phase Alignment

When recording an amplified instrument with more than one close mic, send a click track through the amplifier (this can be achieved any number of ways; I prefer using an MPC-style click feeding the head's FX return). You can use this click to either visually line the tracks up in a DAW after they've been recorded (great for phase-aligning DI signals with microphones), or, if you blend mics to tape, flip the polarity on one mic and adjust it until the click disappears. Just be careful not to send the click in the amp too loud or you could cause some damage.
