Thread Starter | I want to a dubstep artist like skrillex! HELP!
Im'a dubstep artist, but nothing like skrillex! i want to make some massive, dirty bass that he does, how do i make it? any ideas? would really appreciate the help!!

Wub wub wub wuuuubbbbb wub wub wub The most common skrillex tricks are huge resonant low pass filters and modulating formant filters at audio rates - that "Modern Talk" Massiv preset sound. After that, loads of distortion and glitchy sample and hold plugins!

"modern talk" preset in massive? is it already on there or do i need to download it? do you know any really good dubstep drums sites too?

Look into Izotope's "stutter edit" plugin. I haven't used it myself, but I've seen it demoed and it's a really innovative, easy way to get those rapid fire stutter FX that Skrillex is so fond of. You can use it as a plug in effect and actually "play" your stutters with a MIDI keyboard. As far as the big baselines go, you really can't go wrong with Massive. If I recall, Skrillex mentioned in an interview with DJ magazine that he uses Massive himself. |
