Just found $800 when I was redoing my budget, any ideas?

Hey!

Ill be pretty straight forward, any bang for the buck item(s) I can add to my studio with $800?

Current gear list:

sm7b
sm57s
audio technica at3035
M-audio sputnik
M-audio pulsar II pair

RNC/RNLA Compressor combo

Apogee Ensemble
Motu 896hd

I was considering upgrading the MOTU 896hd with Mercenary's upgrade, getting some A7's

Or buying something to color up a channel or 2...

OR buying an EV JV20 or whatever+a JDI DI box+ an ART PRO VLA II

Something along those lines...

Any ideas would be awesome!

Thanks
Ev

I saved money by buying my new ensemble through sonic circus, finding a great deal on rockwool, and saving money on some other gear...

it was nice.

A good preamp is always a great idea. I like the ISA one (you could afford 2) UA 610... Great River RNP. You're a few hundred off a Chandler Germanium (LOVE mine) but the damn power supply is another 200(usd).
The Germanium is my go to "color" pre

But EVERYONE needs an AKGc414. EVERYONE.

How are you liking those M-audio mics? Interesting choice in that price range. Very A-typical. Sorry to tangent, but honestly are they worth their cost?

I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the Pulsars as well.

And Klacktor, why the C414, just out interest?

If you're gonna do a 414, make sure it's not one of the new models. Personally, I can think of a lot more useful mics than the 414 for the kind of money AKG wants! Bock 195 or a Lauten Clarion?

save up to a bigger box a MOHOG 76 clone yeeeejhhhh

its like the most versatile box there likely is. 76ers are yes... and this one has an output transformer switch :heavy and moderate sound coloring.
Check em out they re @ 1300
