Pop Star Studio Party

Hi guys

I'm sure that by now you've all come accross a recording studio offering its services for a 'Pop Star Party' or something along those lines.

If not its basically, where people come in to sing over a backing track of their choice and to be presented with the final track in a CD at the end for them to take home, usually only in 1-4 hour sessions so nice and short with pricing depending on what extra's you can offer.

Well the first question i have is does anyone on here operate anything like this? Im opening a new studio in a city centre soon so idea's like this for the evenings could help.

And does anyone have any other idea's to get different type of people into the studio? And potentially make some money out of it?

Craig

Very occasionally I've been involved in something like this - once had a stag do in (5 of the 10-strong party were in a band together, as part of their stag weekend, they wanted to record a couple of cheesy covers together. Interesting day, especially when the stripper arrived...). Generally more hassle than they're worth, but entertaining as a one off. Usually you'll find the shorter the session, the less worthwhile it is to do (unless you can charge a day rate for a few hours).

But evenings? won't your clients still be in? commercial studio days are 12hrs...plus I can't think many clients would take kindly to coming in the next day to find people have been in the control room overnight. The days of one session in the day, one in the night are generally over (there are exceptions of course).
