Just booked a sweet project!

Business has been slow but I just booked and got a 50% deposit to compose and record bass and drums on 15 songs. The guitars and vox were previously written and recorded in pro tools and I was given the session files! Super stoked to be making music !

I admit I would be a little worried that the guitar tracks are recorded without the groove of a drummer, or a different drummer than those you will record and they may not sit well.

Hopefully it's not a kind of music with much swing in the groove.

Even with a click, the guitarist may have his/her own way of navigating the click that may be a little different than the new drum tracks.

It's much easier IMO to do the other way around...drums first and then everything else played to the personality of that drummers groove.

I'm just saying that because I tried this (on 2 albums, not by my choice) and had trouble making the mixes jam because of it. Everything just sounded "off". The format was Rockabilly. Beat was everything.

I hired a very good drummer too.

You might be perfectly fine, too...just be aware of how the tracks you get are sitting with the click. On the beat, attacking, lagging, varied between choruses and verses, etc...
