Giving away USB sticks with studio logo instead of burning cd's

Talked to a friend about our studio yesterday.
He mentioned that the offshore company he's working for buys big boxes of usb sticks with their logo on.
Not very big though, maybe 1gb to keep the price down.

We were thinking that this would be a really cool idea for studios too.
Instead of burning cd's/dvd's or uploading files I could just give them a free usb stick.

I am not aware of any studios doing this.

Costs a little bit, but might be a cool way to let the artists carry a little bit of our studio with them in the pocket.

What do you think?

I think it's a great idea but the above poster has a good point.

I've been checking this up lately (work in the software industry) bying from China with 4-color print 1-2 gb, is about 3-5 usd a piece (100-200 pcs. at a time minimum) shipping included in the calculation.

Great idea, go for it!!!

Once they've listened to the files, sent them to mastering etc. I don't think that matters.

The main idea is that this will give them the impression that we're more professional and modern than now when were burning cd's and writing on it with a sharpie. And they will get a physical product which is more exciting than me transfering their files in target disc mode.

If they want to the USB stick for other stuff later that's good.
They will be reminded of our studio and the good time they had here.

The cool thing about it is that we can hand hand out free "merch" which serves a studio function instead of giving away pens, t-shirts and cups for no other reason than advertising.

We were thinking about this as well, we don't have a studio or label, ours is just music production company and publishing, but only good quality t-shirts with 3 color full size chest. Comes quite expensive if ordered within the UK, China offers bargain, however ratio of bad experiences with China (poor quality, wrong colors, misspelled name(!) was quite high... and USB stick sounds good too, maybe we should investigate more, those who are interested?

Let me know if any of you run into a company with good prices.

For those of you who are giving out USB sticks with your logos on it, where are you getting these made?

I love this idea!
