upload music online for private listening but no download for clients?

I'm not sure which section to post this in, but i assume this one is the right one.

i wanna upload my mixes for a client i'm working for but i down want them to download them until i receive payment. i know soundcloud has this private listening but its a premium service i think. is there an alternative website i can upload the mixes so they can hear it without me sending them in email?

create a 2/3 second radio-jingle type thing for your business and put it over the mix once a minute or whatever. Then they can listen to the mix in relatively good detail but it's of sod all use until they pay.

Photographers have done this for years.

I was just going to say that - if they want to steal it, they will, even if you dont allow them to download (just record from the audio out on their soundcard for instance). Tags are they way to go, or just give them half the song.

If you add tags, then it is a clear sign that you do not trust them. That is very bad business. Just give them parts of the song 'to save space and make the downloads easier' and that keeps all sides happy.

I always give my customers the entire thing and in good quality, as I always trust them. If anybody ever attempts to cheat me, then they stop being my customers at that very moment.

Like I said, photographers have done it for years and I don't think it's a sign of distrust.

I think it depends who you're working with. If I spend 2 weeks in the studio with a band I'll have no dramas sending them a full quality mix to listen to. But if it's 'online' mixing where all I know is their email, I'm happier to let them see I'm not one to take sh*t from them.

Yeah, I dunno. I was cheated pretty hard about 10 years ago. An entire CD. $6 grand kaput. Stoopid me. And it was a shitty, quick master. And I even told him it was unusable for anything other than a reference. Oh well. We've never spoken since. I'd rather have had the money.
