maybe you should engineer in your own studio in a way thats a complement that you hired a good employee .

the studio business is about building relationships with clients, that relationship forms strongly with the people actually doing the work in the long hours of the sessions. as the studio owner, your not involved in the hour after hour, drop in after drop in, the engineer is, he is forming the personal working relationship not you. of course if you engineer the sessions then you get that benefit. but you also have to do the time. but just as a studio owner/non engineer the only way you can keep either engineers or clients from going elsewhere to work is by offering a studio they want to use at a price they want to pay.
