Thread Starter | Does anyone still record on tape in Ottawa, Canada? Hi, I 've been looking at the various studio ads in the yellow pages here in Ottawa (I know most of you gearslutz don't know my little part of Canada), checked out their websites, and none of them have any tape machines. I remember visiting Kina productions in Hull and Distortion studios in Ottawa (ten years ago) and they had analog multitrack recorders. Now, both are gone. Am I too late, am I too hopeful, did analog recording truly go the way of the dinosaur in Canada? Listen I'm not an engineer, I havent' been in a studio more than once, so don't laugh at me. at worst I am misinformed. Is there anyone who would see a potential for an analog recording studio in Canada? (I believe I know the answer, but I am making a poll here). Thank you, 2n1305 |

This an old thread, but what the hey. I know that Bova Sound still has 16 track Ampex deck, and I don't know if Dave Drave's Little Bullhorn studios is still active, but he had 16 channel MCI 2". I remember when Distortion sold their 2" machines. |

yep we're still running our Ampex MM1000 16 2" track on a weekly basis. It rules. Cheers, Philip

It might be against forum rules here, but can you give me an idea of what the price would be for a weekend session at your studio Mr Bova? (running with and without tape) Thank you, OW | |

Thread Starter | that's fine, I check my old threads once in a while. I know that Bova Sound still has 16 track Ampex deck, and I don't know if Dave Drave's Little Bullhorn studios is still active, but he had 16 channel MCI 2". I walked in there one day, I think I was sending out resumés, must have been around 1998-99, and remember seeing those machines side-by-side. Were they Otari MTR-90s? |

I'm not sure if I recall correctly, but I want to say they were Sony decks. I think that Sound of one hand had an A800. |
