Bass trap safety

I built a few bass traps using roxul rockboard 60 and wrapped them in burlap. I have small children is this stuff safe wrapped in burlap? Will particles fly around my living room?

Go get some felt or fleece at the fabric store and over-wrap. It's generally considered safe - but generally it's not used like the padded walls in an asylum either....

So should I leave the burlap on and just put something over that?

Add polyester batting (blanket filling material) behind the burlap. It is flammable, so watch out for open flames.

I'd encase the whole thing - as is - in a barrier of cloth which the odd stray fiber can't get through... I like the teddy bear guts too, but I'd put them over the burlap and under the new fabric.

I go with the cheapest I can get away with. Sometimes ugly patterns and colors are on sale....

burlap is messy stuff.
You'll get more fibers from that than you will the insulation. I gave mine a thorough shaving with an electric razor and a shop-vac... before using a different fabric altogether on later builds..
Putting an initial thin layer of batting won't hurt, and you may look into 'muslin' instead of the burlap or some nicer stuff (like Guilford of Maine) for the outer wrap.
